Superintendent
SUPERINTENDENT
This position is responsible for delivering a functionally and financially viable project ahead of schedule with zero injuries. Your primary focus is to achieve the goals of safety, schedule, quality, cost, and customer satisfaction, exceeding our clients’ expectations. You will also be responsible for recognizing design aspects that are likely to give rise to disputes and claims, and providing recommendations to the Designer of Record.
In this role you will …
- Manage a $5 million to $50 million project from inception to completion.
- Apprise project management of projects progress, issues, and concerns.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and Ross Group field personnel to mobilize and administer efforts throughout the life of the project.
- Control changes to the cost baseline.
- Monitor cost performance to detect and understand variances from the cost baseline.
- Maintain the project’s schedule by determining appropriate the resources, quantities, and availability to perform project activities.
- Prepare three-week look-ahead and long lead item schedules.
- Notify management if events beyond Ross Group’s control negatively impact the schedule.
- Manage all aspects of subcontractors.
- Provide direction for the close-out documents.
- Obtain all certificates and conduct all final inspections prior to project close-out.
- Oversee quality assurance activities, providing an umbrella for continuous process improvement.
- Implement all applicable safety guidelines, while also adhering to Ross Group’s safety policy.
- Provide accurate invoicing and timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Provide direction to the Project Engineer and maintain priority on critical path items necessary to keep the project schedule.
As the ideal candidate you …
- Have five to ten years’ experience as a Superintendent or a Construction Manager, with a demonstrated ability to lead and supervise your employees.
- Have a proven successful project history of maintaining quality, schedule, safety, and actual cost versus estimated cost.
- Excel at managing rapidly changing priorities to accomplish project goals.
- Effectively manage field staff by appropriately staffing projects, providing formal and informal evaluations/feedback, addressing employee issues, and providing appropriate training and mentoring.
- Use strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of employees, Ross Group management, and outside partners such as owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Have previous experience speaking to small groups is a plus.
- Are willing and able to relocate to Ross Group project sites, typically located throughout the South and Midwest.
- Don’t mind flexible work hours, with an average of 50 hours per week or as needed.

- Work outdoors in extreme conditions such as cold, heat, and humidity on a regular, daily basis.
- Lift, push, and pull up to 50lbs when necessary.
- Control mechanisms or provide direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
- Operate, maneuver, navigate, or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment on a regular, daily basis.
- Stand, climb, bend, and stoop on a regular, daily basis.
- Use hands and arms to handle, install, position, and move materials and manipulate items when needed.
- Use visual and auditory skills.
Some positions warrant eligibility for a monthly auto allowance. When an employee is deemed eligible, the use of the vehicle must be for the employer’s convenience; the use of the vehicle must be required as a condition of employment; vehicle must qualify as an acceptable vehicle defined by Company depending on the employee’s function within the organization.
